Simmons nails second triple-double in last seven games
Philadelphia’s offense has been rolling lately with an average of 116.8 points on average in their last four victories. They’ve needed the scoring as the defense has allowed quite a few points, but winning has been the significant key to it all. In a 121-110 victory over Indianapolis, the 76ers took full control in the second half and never looked back. They ended up hitting 50 percent of their shots, including an impressive 18-for-36 from downtown, and overcame turning it over 20 times.
The starters were responsible for most of the action, and that even included Joel Embiid’s limited time with foul trouble. JJ Redick led the team with 31 points and hit 8-of-12 from 3-point range. Ben Simmons ended his night with a triple-double that featured 14 points, 11 assists, and 11 boards. The turnovers were a little bit high (5), but that was the only blemish on his night.
Lackluster effort in Houston leads to early blowout
Utah had no chance in a 137-110 blowout against Houston. The Rockets nearly hit 60 percent of their shots and they converted 23-of-39 3-point attempts. In fairness, the Jazz comparing that with 43.2 percent of their shots and delivering 13-of-34 from downtown themselves was decent, but not anywhere near enough with how much the defense gave up. They’ve only allowed 100.1 points on average this season, but they have been outscored overall (-0.8 points).
The Jazz had a balanced attack against Houston, but nobody stepped up. Donovan Mitchell came off the bench and led the team with 17 points. He made 6-of-13 field goals and went 3-for-7 from downtown. He’s really stepped up lately with two games that featured 25 points or more in the two games prior to his efforts in Houston. He did have a negative ratio of four assists to five turnovers in the recent loss.
With Philadelphia having a top-tier offense in their recent wins, they should at least keep things very close in in Utah. Take the points at least, and it could potentially be an outright victory.
Pick: PHI +7*
